As AmTrak passengers await their train at the depot in Sandpoint, Idaho, they engage in the simple flavor of the waiting room, largely unchanged since its construction in 1916 — wooden benches, terrazzo floors, plaster walls. The Highway 95 realignment project will soon bring vehicular traffic to within 25 feet of the waiting room doors. It was Arrow Rock Architects' assignment to document the existing conditions and prepare a monitoring plan for potential disturbance to the building during the ensuing road construction.
